Watching the videos I don’t feel Usman Tariq throws it. His arm is low but it seems pretty straight like a spin version of Shaun Tait. Someone like Gus Atkinson (who I’m not saying throws it) bowls with a slightly bent arm but well within the degrees allowed. It’s a very clubbie style action.

The team relay in the Cyclocross world’s is a fun race. Would there be scope to maybe have a trade team version on World Cup weekend’s? Not every week but maybe something for times when there is one race.

New blog article for January 2026, this time I look at umpires in recreational cricket and how changes in demographics means that recruitment has changes significantly from one generation to the next. upthehillintothewind.blogspot.com/2026/01/umpi...
Umpires and the future
With the dark nights still very much here winter nets start to emerge out of the foggy January gloom of the winter days. After an amazing ...

@georgedobell.bsky.social is there any sort of mathematical situation where England slip far enough down the ODI ranking that automatically qualifying for ICC tournaments becomes an issue?

Castle Hotel in #Aberystwyth up for sale. So much uni times spent playing darts and pool in there. Then even more money on the jukie to put the same songs on each week. #arras

If you have paid all that money for TNT to watch a rather lame Ashes series then you should go and use your apps and check
Out this week’s cyclocross. This weeks races have been epic in the snow. Maybe a few cricket fans have picked it up.

This year I have put some thoughts down periodically about cricket and various things I have noticed along with some personal experiences. After thinking about doing it for ages I have put them together in a blog. Link here - lnkd.in/eSjGYPZM I hope to add to this as 2026

Is Snicko operated by the UCI?
December 18, 2025 at 5:40 PM
With the Snicko debate is it me or has the technology got worse? Not as good as it was back in the 2010’s where has hot spot gone? It seems odd that it’s not as good as 10 years ago.

Random rogue return of Cristo Reyes at the darts. Need to see Carlos Rodriquez and Antonio Alcinas #darts

The chat about Bairstow is very odd to me. The flaw resulting in him getting bowled never went away. His average in 2024 was 23.80, his overall average is held up by 16 and 22 where he averages over 50.

The second Neser wickets today was a great example of the keeper up to the stumps. Batter is not as far forward and mistimes it back to the bowler, nearly got Brook for the same reason. Shows the value of a top keeper and also unlike what England think not having to express banging it in halfway.

Looking at the job of Neser has done this game especially Econ rate. It feels like England miss a Porter or Cook type bowler. Without a spinner Neser with the keeper up did a great job. Today if they don’t bowl the spinner they missed someone to do that job. #ashes @tntsportsus.bsky.social

Great to see Ngidi back playing. Another name to add to the great article on @espncricinfo.com about how bowlers break down and come back. Chapelle is so right about the history of it. But with so many examples would statistically people be able to plot this for players in future?

What do @emergingcricket.bsky.social watchers think of Asa Tribe? Talks of England future starts his ODI, List A and First Class stats are really impressive more than many other ahead of him. Not seen any of him to know his game. I assume he couldn’t play anyway as he played for Jersey this year?

For those of you who have now paid for @tntsportsus.bsky.social there is @cyclocrosss.bsky.social on tomorrow. The reason we have it over winter. Most weeks two races and it’s on nearly every day over Xmas. 😆 If cricket is rubbish your can learn a new sport.

@lanternerougecp.bsky.social one irreverent chat I would
Love to hear on the podcast is. What would cyclists do if they were a cricketer? MVDP Middle Order hitter of 6’s. Wout I have a a grinding line and length bowler (Gus Fraser). I see Michael Matthew’s bowling some offies I reckon.

TNT cut away from him coming over the line. Then didn’t get discussed in the studio. I am the first to complain in Olympics etc of annoying home country bias on TV but this seemed the opposite.
Fred Wright in ninth! Not a mention of him all day but there he is! Stealthy.

I think @lanternerougecp.bsky.social was right on one of their videos in the weeks. Today proves we need to see Primoz on the Cipressa and Poggio next year in MSR.
