Since I last posted here I got my gender updated with SSA (literally the day before they stopped), my wife & I escaped South Carolina and officially moved to Philadelphia, & I got a hearing date scheduled for my name change. Sharing some trans joy seems more important than ever these days!

My mom has always mostly understood why we felt like we needed to move out of South Carolina, but I think one of the things that finally clicked was when we told her Nancy Mace was considering running for governor. Have never seen my mom's face drop into a scowl like that in my life 🤣

One of our best friends is a very talented artist, who my wife & I met through work years ago. Last night she reminded us of an old selfie from a holiday party over 6 years ago and how it'd always been a personal favorite, so she decided to make this wonderful new version (original included for ref)
