So last night someone here took the wheel of a city bus as the driver stepped out for a break at the terminal and just... continued on the route

Last night the news was only "stolen city bus incident", and I wondered what you can do with a stolen city bus?

Turns out he stole it with the people...

I’m getting a lot of bad faith/snarky replies to a thread recently. If you’re reading this, this is your offer to engage in good faith as a reply to this post. Otherwise we can cut it here. TIA~

it is nice to be at the point in a discussion where I can link previous points bc the people that won't read the entire thread haven't figured out that I've addressed their specific point already

hopefully with a couple more years on here, that gets easier

There’s a darkly funny chapter after Goetz turns himself in where the cops keep trying to give him an out: “You were afraid for your life, right?”

And Goetz is like, nope, I wanted to kill those teens because they are black.

The guy who did it would not shut up about how racist he was!

You would like @sarahkendzior.bsky.social books “Hiding in Plain Sight” and ”They Knew”, and @calfraser.bsky.social ”Murderland”. When the facts are stated so plainly like that, it feels less like a revelation and more like remembering something we were trained to forget. Then we see it everywhere…

Published this at @theintercept.com on Monday early evening.

Here's what's happened since and how Dem leadership has acted to stifle their activist base.
It’s Time for Concrete Action on ICE. Sadly, We Have the Democrats.
Democrats have offered cussing and scolding after the killing of Renee Good and Alex Pretti in Minneapolis. We need a real plan of attack, now.

The real reason why Alex Pretti and Renee Good are so hated/rejected by the MAGA right is because they have that type of single-mindedness that you can only find in the early medieval saints, which is the complete opposite to the nihilistic sinfulness of MAGA.

Like even the murder is no longer new. They did that already to Renee Good. Why is it suddenly politically feasible to shutdown the government? What fundamentally changed? I saw very smart boys from the beltway articulate how it was outright scandalous to suggest that our leaders resort to shutdown?

It's so weird. I have been told over and over again that it was ridiculous & irresponsible to suggest that dems use their power as an opposition to shutdown the government again. What changed? I'm confused, because it's the same funding, the same tactics, and the same administration. What changed?

now - especially now - a reminder that we are going to win. and this is why
I attempted to go to an ICE patrol training here in LA this morning and they had to turn most of us away because of capacity issues and even as I was leaving I saw a ton more folks showing up

so that’s how well their attempts to scare everyone away are going, even in the face of murder

this is such a great and hopeful initiative in a time when we're losing so many important journalistic archives!! they're paying $2,500 for your work that can't be found anymore due to link degradation and media outlets shuttering
Ending a bad year on a good note: @atavist.com is excited to introduce Revived, a project breathing new life into old stories. We're releasing previously published features otherwise lost to dead outlets and dead links. First up, from @alexmarvar.bsky.social.

Yeah i think the only good argument for even *talking about* training is what @jamellebouie.net is saying: that it act as a Trojan Horse for abolition
