Published in several newspapers* globally in the last month, part of our earlier project here in Greenland:

“Children in the Uummannaq settlement carve words into the thinning sea ice to describe the climate changes they are witnessing. Here are some of the terms they use..."

Uummannaq (where I’m teaching Inuit children 360º filmmaking Feb-Mar) has an amazing outpost of El Sistema’s music program for youth-at-risk. It’s been 10 years since I played, but they just happened to find (possibly the world’s northernmost) #trombone.

We've a concert on Monday should you pass by

The looooong trip back to Greenland begins with a sleeper train down from my home in the Norwegian Arctic...

To have the place you live threatened, priced & bid upon is terrifying as it is truly insulting. The people of #KalaallitNunaat should know the rest of the world stands with them: #Greenland is for Greenlanders.

Here’s a bit of my #documentary on #SeaIce, In-Competition in #FIPADOC Biarritz 24 Jan.

Happy (?!) Solstice from Arctic Norway (well, in one hour, though it's polar night here presently).

Surely things can only get better on our next spin around the sun…?

#COP21 ... 10 years ago today!
You can feel the optimism in this protest I filmed in Paris, December 2015: there & then our leaders, remarkably, agreed we'd aim for maximum 1.5ºC target for global heating.

We recorded +1.55ºC in October 2025.

Countries that open new oil & gas must be prosecuted.

Plans to go to Sweden to record ice sounds are derailed by (yet another) cancelled train from Narvik ... so it's home filming ice flowers ❄️ form on the window instead, with Messiaen playing and fireplace going.

The seaweed farmers of Beniamina, South Pacific Ocean, live a carbon-negative existence: their crops draw down CO₂ emitted a world away.

This is the opening sequence* from my project BENIAMINA.

With other works about climate solutions it premieres today at ImagoLisboa photo festival... 1/2

Moving to a home only accessible by water sparks new life for musician
Marnie Sebire longed to live on the water but feared she would have to give up her career with the Sydney Symphony Orchestra. Learning how to drive a boat allowed her to do both.

Dirty icebergs? Hard-to-remove sediments? Dial 1-800-ICEBERG-CARE... Err no, it’s not a billboard campaign but a still from my video artwork “anthropoScene XII”, exhibited as part of the OnBoards Biennale in Belgium whose theme in 2025 is relationships (in my case between human and #MoreThanHuman).

Winning The New Scientist editors’ award for best film at #EarthPhoto2025 in London this week was the work I made featuring the Inuit youth of Uummannaq Children’s Home:

As winter leaves us in the Norwegian Arctic, some of this season’s highlights included #IceBubbles, #PolarStratosphericClouds, #Aurora and (in my poorly insulated house at least) #WindowFrost! ❄ ⛄

Lowlight was the lack of #Arctic #SeaIce: it's the lowest March extent on record
