Excited to share my 2025 Hardcover Wrapped!

This was a fun holiday project to put together. Over the last 2 weeks, we sketched ideas as a team, dot voted on concepts, prototyped in Figma and turned those into this data-driven, animated wrapped! Love how it turned out.

Posted my annual 2025 Year in Review Blog post

It was a busy on: new house, new job, new dog, lots of work on Hardcover, and trying to not stay glued to the news. It was one of the most active in my life, that's for sure.

Going to try to start a new habit in 2026: actually reviewing the books I read. 😅

Starting it early.

The most important post on Bluesky today
Just watched the new Knives Out and I think it's really important you know that the scene in the Seminary's Gym is filmed in the same place Rick Astley filmed the music video for Never Gonna Give You Up.

I saw the window tracery and immediately made my friends pause the film so I could tell them.

Tried playing around with using Spec Kit+Claude Code+Opus 4.5 to generate a new version of Line Of Thought; my daily mood tracker I retired last year. Rebuilding it as an iOS app with HealthKit integration.

Took only the initial setup & 1 msg to get something running. 🫢

One game that changed my life was SimCity 2000. It shaped how I think about building products - before I even knew the term. Just published a new blog post about how it impacted me.

Trying out Skylight.io on Hardcover to find some easy improvements. it's helped shed light on areas that had some queries I wasn't expecting, but overall things are looking better than I thought.

700 req/min
100ms avg response
1.3s 95% percentile

Biggest concern: 40% of requests are API searches 😅

Ohh, this is nifty! Someone built u/hardcoverbot using the Hardcover API to replace the Goodreads bot (deprecated API). /r/suggetmeabook has made the switch!

I've been a fan of this subreddit for a while, and it was the inspiration for Hardcover Prompts.

This is a great write up about Headless CMS vs DIY CMS.

I’ve gone back and forth between static and a CMS multiple times. Lately I’ve settled into a good flow with WordPress + GraphQL + Advanced Custom Fields. All 3 blogs I have use a headless CMS w/that setup.

Hardcover hit a new milestone today that I don't think I've seen before: 1,000+ daily active users! 🥳

We've been steadily in the 900s the last week or two, so we'd been close for a while.

Our 1898 house’s fireplace was one of the areas we wanted to eventually tackle. We didn’t expect to get to it this year, but we just wrapped up our remodel! (After ~2.5 weeks).

Super happy with the result and having a cozy reading nook next to it. 🔥📚

Created my first Claude Code skill yesterday: `/issue <n>`. It will:

1. Load the GH issue
2. Local git branch
3. Plan solution (+iterate w/me)
4. Execute plan until all tests pass
5. Push branch, create draft PR

W/Happy I can do this from anywhere from my phone. Variable rewards though 😂

So, I just learned that the last few months of talking to my wife about Claude Code, she heard it as “clawed code”. 🦞

As in code I had to “claw” my way through to complete. 🦀
