Just come out after a farce two week investigation and say "We checked; turns out it's all bad apples." Will be way closer to the truth than the justification for getting rid of USAID.

There isn't really a comparable pipeline for radicalization on the left. Not that "we need our own Joe Rogan" or whatever, but we need a coordinated effort to normalize progressive ideas for normies in the same way that Rogan or Adin Ross does for shitty right wing ideology.
January 12, 2026 at 5:41 PM
This is true for calculating politicians needing cover, but also for normies. Part of the issue we're dealing with is the right wing media landscape has created a pipeline where you go from Tucker Carlson just asking questions to full throated support of violent suppression of political opposition.

to translate it for a bluesky audience, the ass is the father of the legs, and your legs were raised by a single mom

the assenmacher is the father of the legsenmacher

By and large they're at best mixed in their politics, but because their targets are people the left doesn't like, they're painted as violent leftists for the purpose of a lazy "both sides" narrative.

And this goes for basically anyone the right would put up as being an example of "the left" being as bloodthirsty as the right: Kirk's killer, Donald's attempted assassin, etc.

He just had felt that the American healthcare system had failed him, which is a sentiment that is not limited to a particular side of the ideological spectrum.

Other people are rightly pointing out the prosecution element here. But there's also this: it's a false equivalence to state that it's Renee Good's killer on the right vs. Mangione on the left, because from what we've seen of the dude, Mangione isn't a leftist; he was pretty amorphous politically.

If anything, what success for her looks like is a more commercially palatable Twitter that will better financially benefit Elon Musk, who in addition to promoting fascism and white supremacy currently seems to have no problem with Grok doing what it's doing.
January 11, 2026 at 6:30 AM
There's no "good," pre-lapsarian version of Twitter; it always was a place for memes and shitposting, and while it definitely has gotten worse under Musk, even at its best it wasn't a place that treated women particularly well. That doesn't change if the deep fakes stop.

I see the parallels to staying in the US to fight fascism that the author is invoking here; where I think she's wrong is that the US at least nominally stands for good things worth saving (e.g. multiracial liberal democracy), whereas social media is basically always a cesspool.

He and Herbstreit also seemed to have no sense of the pace of a football game. They're talking about how they might need to abandon the run... on the Bears first drive of the second half, with like 29 minutes left in the game when they were trailing by less than 20 points. What even was that?

25-6, also known as the gentleman's 28-3
January 11, 2026 at 4:57 AM
Like, even if you give him that the kick at the end of the half was one most pros would miss, that still leaves you in field goal range in that last drive with a kick winning the game if he makes the other two.

One thing I don't get is why the Packers went back to McManus after Havrisik was as good if not better. No sexual harasser vibes in the building and you're paying him less, and it's not like McManus is some legendary postseason kicker, as evidenced by him dropping 7 points in a game you lost by 4.

what tebow fails to understand is that you can use multiple like juices on a single respect

so if you have one twitter respect and three like juices you can create three new respects

Puka Nacua going on Adin Ross sealed their fate.

Why did you attach a photo of Enrico Palazzo?
January 10, 2026 at 10:07 PM
Fair enough. I'd describe it as (to borrow a phrase from Folding Ideas) literally true, but not spiritually. The general implication of the use of "self-proclaimed" is that the "self" being referred to is the only one proclaiming it; a "many-people proclaimed poet" is usually just called a poet.

But like, it's also not accurate. If I get given an award for doing something, that's not me self-proclaiming. That's literally other people proclaiming me as a (talented) Doer of the Thing.

there's gotta be an @artbutmakeitsports.bsky.social to be had here
January 10, 2026 at 3:16 PM
Like, I know we all know they're lying, but when it's so obvious that even looking at just two photos blows their whole story up, it becomes clear how desperate to believe them you have to be to fall for it.
