As @oavotes.bsky.social shares in their testimony in support of the Driver Privacy Act (House Bill 2332), Washington should join the growing list of states that are passing common-sense regulations for automated license plate readers (ALPRs). Our safety depends on it.

ICE is the highest funded law enforcement agency in the U.S., yet Congress is debating giving them even more money to wreak havoc on our communities.

This is progress, but we are not letting up.

Demand your Senators vote no on a bill that would keep funding ICE while doing nothing to keep us safe from these out of control federal agents. Take action at aclu.org/stop_ice_attacks-

A 5-year-old detained after preschool.

Multiple people shot and killed by federal immigration agents.

U.S. citizens arrested by masked officers.

Our elected officials have the power to reign in this lawless cruelty — they must use it.
Opinion | ICE is clearly out of control. This week the Senate can actually do something about it.
Alex Pretti's shooting in Minneapolis turned Senate Democrats against ICE and DHS funding at a pivotal moment, with another shutdown looming.

We the people demand an end to ICE's relentless attacks on Minneapolis communities.
We filed an emergency declaration in our case, Tincher v. Noem, to submit a first-hand account of federal agents shooting Alex Pretti. ICE's violent and lawless attacks on our communities must be stopped.

ICE and CBP agents are out of control and put everyone in danger.

We're calling for ICE agents to withdraw from Minneapolis, and for Congress to rein in ICE’s abuses in our communities.

We will not understate the harm President Trump has brought to our communities in his first year back in office. Yet we also know that our fight is unwavering — and more often than not, we saw success in our legal actions defending against the Trump administration over the past year.

Did you know people incarcerated in Washington have no opportunity to have their long sentences reviewed? Washington is one of many states that in the "lock-them-up" era of the ‘80s passed laws eliminating chances for early release.

When we change an unfair law, it must apply equally. Across the board – to everyone – without exception.

In 2023, Washington state passed a law that stopped automatically punishing adults with juvenile records twice. But the law only helped people who were sentenced after it took effect.

Show up for justice with us tomorrow and beyond!

We'll be at the Capitol this Thursday to push for the Fair Score Act (HB 1274) and the Second Look Pathway for Youth (HB1317).

These bills recognize that people are more than their worst mistakes, and that justice should allow room for change.

Thousands of our neighbors are pushed into homelessness not because of personal shortcomings, but because our systems have failed to ensure access to basic needs:

🔺Affordable housing
🔺Healthcare
🔺Economic stability.

We are relieved that in Tincher v. Noem et al. the court has issued a preliminary injunction. The ACLU-MN is hopeful that it will prevent further First Amendment violations like the ones that have been harming Minnesotans since the start of “Operation Metro Surge.”

Everyone deserves safety, dignity, and shelter.

Washington state is experiencing a fundamental failure of housing policy, leaving tens of thousands of Washingtonians without a home as housing costs continue to skyrocket amid a severe shortage of affordable housing.

Did you know people incarcerated in Washington are unable to have their life or long sentences reviewed and potentially shortened?

It’s been this way since the 1980s, when Washington followed the racially unjust trend of “lock-them-up” policies and passed laws eliminating chances for early release.
