It's been a day, so just getting to this...Mike Sullivan was the perfect coach at the perfect time. The Pens don't win two more Cups without him. But it was time.

My shortlist:
Neil Graham, Texas Stars HC
Jeff Halpern, Tampa asst.
Mitch Love, Wash asst.
Todd Nelson, Hershey HC

If the Pirates are going to pitch, hit, field, and operate like a minor league team, then they should be the ones playing in a spring training ballpark instead of the Rays.

Give PNC Park to Tampa. The Rays deserve it. At least they try to be a real MLB franchise.

The Top 16 seeds all advanced in the NCAA Tournament.

Of those 16 teams, 14 won their games by 10+ points.

The only two that did not were Texas A&M and Alabama. Aggies beat Yale by 9. Alabama beat Robert Morris by 9.

Makes the showing by RMU even more impressive.

There is a segment of Pitt fans who wish they could drop Jeff Capel in favor of Andy Toole.

There'd be some cruel irony if WVU snagged Toole instead while Pitt can't get out from Capel's buyout.

Not saying Toole would even be a candidate. But the reaction would be interesting.

Some RMU-'Bama-Cleveland connections:
- Not Andy Toole's 1st game vs. Bama. RMU played in Tuscaloosa 1/14/14, lost 64-54. RMU led 23-20 at half.
- RMU's Kam Woods is from Bessemer, AL
- AD Chris King previously worked in Alabama athletic dept., helped them through probation

The annual Woodland Hills Student Summit is easily one of my busiest days in education public relations. So much to capture and you don't want to miss a single moment.

Some favorites from the sixth edition of the event this past Friday at Penn State Greater Allegheny.

In 2010, Robert Morris took advantage of the tournament being in Providence. Locals didn't want Villanova - a Big East foe - to win, so when RMU started hot, the crowd was game.

Couldn't do that in 2015 against No. 1 Duke in Charlotte.

But in Cleveland vs. 'Bama? Maybe!

Robert Morris the top #15 seed. Just one away from the #14 seed line.
Here is the official seed list from the NCAA:

Robert Morris is probably happy to play a game in Cleveland that's not at the Wolstein Center for once.

At least we know the power will stay on and the scoreboard will work.

'Bama vs. RMU Quick Thoughts:
+ Short Trip for RMU fans
+ Homecoming for Amarion Dickerson
+ 'Bama among worst teams in country in scoring defense
- Tide #1 scoring team in country
- Also #1 rebounding team
- Sears can easily take over a game.

Robert Morris vs. Alabama in Cleveland. Hoo boy.

BYU got pretty quiet there when they saw the VCU match-up

Projection: I think Robert Morris ends up as a #14 seed in Milwaukee against Wisconsin.

But a #15 seed in Cleveland against Tennessee is also very possible.

When the great Joe Lunardi published his latest bracket at noon today, a chill ran down the spine of John Calipari back in Fayetteville, Arkansas at the same time all animal sounds briefly fell silent in Lexington, Kentucky.

Robert Morris lives again to haunt Big Blue Nation.

Robert Morris' bracket fate is as either a 14 or 15 seed.

If the Colonials end up as a 15, there's a decent chance they end up in Cleveland against Michigan State or an SEC school. As a 14, perhaps a matchup with St. John's in Providence?

Master class in coaching and team building by Andy Toole this year. Identified players with specific traits to fill clear, defined roles. Coached them. Developed them. They came together.

And now Robert Morris is going dancing.

YSU was just 33% from the floor in the first half. If Robert Morris can keep them below 40% in the second half, you have to like RMU's odds.

One game between Robert Morris and Youngstown State will decide which of the two rivals wins the Horizon League and plays in the NCAA Tournament. Neither has won the Horizon.

Their campuses are separated by a mere 60 miles.

The game will be played 300+ miles from either one.

Take a moment to check the number of gambling comments that now show up on college sports social media, especially now that we've hit tournament season. It's a fascinating glimpse at our society.

But the sheer anger regarding missed spreads and unexpected outcomes is disturbing.

Just imagine the scenes if that RMU-Oakland game was played on campus.

And now YSU-CSU get to play the Battle of Eastern Ohio...in Indianapolis.

Fantastic defense and grit by Robert Morris late. Rallied from double digits. Overcame late onstacles. Tough shot by Kam Woods late.

Those are the building blocks of a championship performance.

One more hurdle Tuesday night.

Defensive breakdowns and questionable offensive decisions are what kill teams in March.

Not a good sequence late for RMU. Can they recover?
March 11, 2025 at 12:57 AM
This might be the most resilient RMU team that Andy Toole has had, even more than the Crazy 8 season where they were pulling walk-ons in through open tryouts.
March 11, 2025 at 12:42 AM
Familiar territory for RMU vs Oakland.

The Bobs trailed at the half in both of their previous meetings. Bounced back to win both.
At the half.

Oakland leads RMU 38-34
