When Amazon launched in 1995, there were 5,500 indie bookshops in the U.S., with 7,000 locations. By May of 2023, that number had decreased to 2,185 indies & 2,599 locations.

When you purchase audiobooks via Libro.fm vs. Audible, you directly support indie bookshops. Let's make that number grow ❤️

So happy I got this new release in before the huge snow storm that swept through. I absolutely love @kimberlylemming.bsky.social books and I already know this one will not disappoint 🥰 💙📚

Are you looking for an Audible alternative but not fully convinced yet on moving away? What if we told you all of your purchases support indie bookshops? Or that we are employee-owned and community driven?

Let us know what questions you have about Libro.fm—we'd love to help make the switch easy 💓

I think a lot of people are uncomfortable making a scene or pushing back because they've never really had to. And/or they've been socialized to avoid seeming "difficult" or "different." This is a muscle. Flex it and it gets stronger.

That’s it. I’m putting this chunky, intricate, existential book down.

I’m picking the sweet, fast-paced popcorn book up.

Now is not the time for eating literary vegetables.
I want cake.

Everyone should know about this one, right? You install the browser extension, give it your library card info, and then when you are looking at books on Amazon or whatever, it lets you know if you can get the book from your library. www.libraryextension.com

Such a fun Knit-a-long! Now to find some blue yarn! 🧶 💙🦋🩵
Lets do it! A Knitalong to get the community going here on @bsky.app!

Start something new (or pick up an old project) using blue yarn, any shade and use the #SkyKAL hashtag to post progress or finished projects. We will let it roll until the end of February. To keep things simple. See comments…

Every time a book gets removed from a shelf my blood boils. In Knox County Schools, 48 titles were banned last month. This first round of bans is just the tip of the iceberg and we need to keep talking about it and fighting against it.

Read my op ed!

Yes, I’m a bookseller, but book banning affects us all | Opinion
Long-term, it has a chilling effect, silencing certain voices and shifting the publishing industry to more lucrative fare, limiting our choices.

One thing before tomorrow:

Use your local libraries.

Get your card.

Borrow books, manga, films, audios, ebooks.

Recommend titles for purchase (usually online).

Attend promoted activities.

Fill out those "How are we doing?" questionnaires.

Tell your kids that libraries are good.

They are.
