I put together an overview of recent developments in the literature on gender-based violence for @AEAjournals

There's enough material for 2x 1.5hr lectures. I've covered the material in labor & gender economics classes

I hope they can be helpful!

Want to measure beliefs but don’t want to ask directly about probabilities?

Check out our new paper for an intuitive choice-based approach!

We use it to quantify beliefs about marriage market returns to girls schooling in rural Rajasthan

❤️ so much wonderful advice in this thread
I was incredibly honored to be awarded the CSWEP Carolyn Shaw Bell Award. When I accepted the award, I talked about the importance of mentoring.

The lessons I pass on are kind of obvious. But they are important, so I am going to share them yet again. (A🧵)

I can’t believe women still have to deal with this sh*t. Major professional retaliation for asking for protection against sexual harassment, on a movie project about domestic violence. Are you kidding?? 😭

New VoxEU explainer on our work on birth timing & spacing, and what this means for the estimation of child penalties

Tl;dr: educated mums spend 25% of the 5yrs following first birth on parental leave for subsequent kids. So how you measure outcomes on PL matters, a lot!

Birth timing and spacing: Implications for parental leave dynamics and child penalties
Estimates of the impact of having children on labour market outcomes can differ significantly depending on whether a parent is categorised as employed or non-employed during parental leave. This column uses data from Denmark to explore how parental leave dynamics relate to the timing and spacing of births and subsequent labour market outcomes. The findings reveal notable disparities in birth timing and spacing based on maternal education levels. These dynamics complicate the estimation of the child penalty and its effects on gender gaps in labour market outcomes.
