I feel a little guilty because I have so many friends who are Medvedev fans, but I’m so ready for him to lose one of these matches instead of acting like a child, almost losing, and then being “so clever” in the on-court interview.

Lrt: scouting in tennis is definitely similar to scouting in hockey, where you have to prove you can play if you’re small but prove you CAN’T play if you’re large.

I think the bigger danger to craftiness is general is the way coaches and federations pick future stars--a 6'4 monster server gets more chances / time to figure things out than a 5'11 feel player. Probably rational for the federations, and similar to scouting in many other sports. Still a shame.

I hate watching Michelsen but feel compelled to turn this on anyway because it’s been ages since I had the chance to watch live tennis. Who knows, maybe he’ll lose.
