Budget cuts come for us all. My contract with Amtrak is not being renewed and it's up tomorrow.

I'll have more time to work on the Map Center but until it's fully off the ground, I'm a GIS analyst with 12 years of experience in ESRI, open source, education and cartography.

The Red Sox play like a team that loves one another, and the Yankees play like they don’t know each other’s first names.

So, no. Jack Nicholson’s Colonel Nathan Jessep was not, in fact, the protagonist in A Few Good Men.

There’s fundamentally only two philosophies of education.

There’s the people who feel school is a means to an end, that end is employment, and if there’s other ways to get to that end, then great, why bother.

And there are people, like me, who would give anything to be a student again, forever.

I’ve said it before on other platforms, but not yet here: Barry Bonds is incontrovertibly the greatest baseball player ever. We can check back in at the end of Shohei’s career, he’s well on track to surpass him, but Bonds was easily the most unique combination of skills since his godfather Mays.

I’m downloading QGIS. What has become of me?

It’s 2025 and I’m flashing a fucking motherboard BIOS to try to upgrade an OS. What in the hell.

If the Red Sox take the money and extend Bregman. I’m good. Right-handed bat in Fenway. Gold-glove defender. Runs to first base on ground outs. I’m confident we can find another DH, maybe Toro stays hot.

I've been working with GeoJSON files for a client of mine, and let me tell you: cartography is the shit. I'm having so much fun. @mapcenter.com

I often feel that sports are a narrative playground, where the most pressing conflicts of our age are played out in our imaginations. The subway series between the Yankees & Mets feels like a battle between fascism and equity. Between the wealthy elite and the people.

Let’s go Mets.

In these dark, dark times, it’s nice to see a small victory over fascism.

Barça. Mes que un club.

The real miracle of Passover is only a year after swearing you’ll never again eat another bite of that dry constipating shit, Matzah tastes like the greatest cracker in the world.

I think I like the Mets.

The layout of the Shanghai International Circuit is bonkers. The straights are so long and the turn 7-8 chicane is blisteringly fast. #f1

Is it redeemable to go back to being a Red Sox fan yet? Like, yeah Bostonians and Sox fans are obnoxious, but like, kinda charming in a way, right? Like, in a Good Will Hunting or The Town kind of way.

Asking for me.
I’m asking for me.

Gabe came into the Map Center today with his mom to show off his map of New Neptone, an imaginary US state next to Delaware. He tells me it's a nice place to live with a good zoo, aquarium and good schools. He has it all mapped out.

Thanks Gabe for making my day!

- In high school, I learned about Pericles Funeral Oration.

- I grew up in a strong Jewish cultural tradition that emphasized how rhetoric is a tool for fascist authoritarians.

- As an adult, I studied media during yet another wave of the “media effects” argument with respect to violence.

No kidding, Alex Bregman might bring me back to the Red Sox Nation. Love that dude.

@unrivaledwbb.bsky.social is the best basketball product out there. The games aren't boring with 2 people playing 1 on 1 while 8 others watch. Teams run screen plays well. The action is really fast. The stars are fun and animated and accessible. It's awesome. It's a better version of sport.

We need resistance art more than ever now. It uplifts and shines a light on marginalized communities. It helps to combat injustice, it disarms evil and it pushes us closer to the right side of history.
