The laundry room in my building is now closed indefinitely because one of the machines caught fire, and I'm sitting on an endless hold with my mobile phone provider: that's how I know it's my Monday.

What is it about taking a full novel from my usual drafting format to a standard manuscript in Word that makes me fall in love with it even more?

NaNo Day 2: Hit the goal for day 1 on day 2 and it's fine. We're doing great!

NaNo Day 1:
We have no word count. We spent yesterday evening majorly revising the end of my second novel because it's going to bleed into the third.
We're technically behind, but not really. Book 2 needed ch. 3 to be ch. 1, and the end needed one more death, as a treat.

Decided to participate in NaNoWriMo this year but not officially.

I'm never getting to 50k, but also what if I did? That's the spirit I'm running with this month.

Using all my socials today to question why we need the word 'shacket' in our lexicon. This is the hill I've chosen to die on this week.

I don't hate editing my work. I'm not great at it, but each edit is an improvement and THAT feeling is the best.

I constructed a dramatis personae for my historical novel's list of characters, and it was two pages single-spaced. Is that really bad? 😬

Edinburgh's Royal Mile last month.

I have so much to edit in book 2, but that won't stop me from trying to knock out half of book 3 for NaNoWriMo.

Spent last night plotting heavily and getting very, very excited.

What would you name a helpful, friendly steward in 11th Century Normandy?

NOT William/Guillaume or Robert. My story has so many of those already, one more would actually topple an Empire.

I just found a Preptober checklist online that said 'Take a before selfie' as the first thing in the list, and I'm not trying to be a hater, but I need a better checklist if I'm actually going to prep for NaNoWriMo.

That feeling when your raise includes being bumped into 'better group benefits,' when you never used the full amount of benefits you had previously, so your entire 'cost of living' raise goes to paying premiums to an insurance company? It's not a good feeling.

So inspired to write thanks to this Scotland trip, I don't even know where to start.

Packing and struggling to decide what and how many books to bring. E-reader doesn't make it easier; I can stare at a page for hours and read, but not a screen.

Here's to Tuesdays that feel like Mondays, with an added chill in the air. Basically a horror prompt.

The eerily wonderful low light of morning paired with light rain and the scent of petrichor could only be made better if I was writing right now.

That feeling when you have one chapter and an epilogue left to draft but your motivation is trapped inside your own head.

Writing is fun because in the span of thirty seconds you can write a sentence, read it back, mutter to yourself "I love this," then immediately second-guess and rewrite it.

Feeling unbelievably fortunate this morning. No particular reason, just riding it.

With pumpkin spice's early return prior to the start of pumpkin spice season, I'm craving a peppermint mocha.

Holiday Monday listening to history podcasts while staring at that blank page? Don't mind if I do.
