This fragmented [perhaps prismatic] essay means a lot to me. Thanks to @theforge.bsky.social & @saracrowley.bsky.social for selecting it as a finalist for their flash cnf competition. "I turn my head like I’m missing something. I feel that I am always missing something." shorturl.at/QlCau

Nonfiction writers, what journals are you reading and where are you sending your most lyric essays? I'm looking for those places that are interested in experimentation and the poetic.

What are some great historical short stories you'd recommend? (Meaning that they are in the subgenre of historical fiction, not old). I'm hoping to bring some recent pieces into a new class I'm building, and they need to be stories not novels. Particularly interest in any fun craft elements.

What are your favorite contemporary outward-facing creative essays? Those nonfiction pieces that take on creative craft, research, and may acknowledge the "I" but are interested in issues beyond the self. Elena Passarello's work is a great example, but what else would you add? Links appreciated!
