Pro-choice mom. Texan. All about #Houston. Council Member of #DistC.
Thanks to the #Txlege House Dems the rest of America got to work.

Great to welcome Gov. @gavinnewsom.bsky.social to #Houston. Like @texasdemocrats.bsky.social and @texasaflcio.org, he knows a thing or two about standing up to #Trump.

Proud this was in #DistC at @ibewinternational.bsky.social 716.

Because the rule of law matters.

Today’s “how the President broke the law” lesson in lay-men’s terms:
Despite private funding, POTUS did not have unilateral authority to tear down the East Wing of the White House. Federal agencies, historical commissions, and federal preservation standards apply.

This isn’t just about the #Pride Flag, it’s about the American flag.

#Houston’s the most diverse city in the nation. We shouldn’t cower to wanna-be Trumps like Abbott trampling on cities.

I’m calling on residents & local businesses to fly our flags proudly.

Move in day in our dorms at @tulaneu.bsky.social was evacuation day #Katrina

Tragedy unfolded. The failure of govt at every level changed me-I was in the Astrodome volunteering as the buses arrived. It’s why I went into government.

#NOLA still has my soul

Concrete batch plants do not belong next to schools.

Today I joined families protesting the dangerous concrete plant that resumed operations next to early childhood centers. I’m working to facilitate a meeting for parents w/ TXDOT (using the plant for highway construction).

I’m with these parents.

I’m joining 100s of experts around the U.S. to publicly testify at @EPA to OPPOSE repeal of Greenhouse Gas regulations (The Endangerment Finding and vehicle regulations under Clean Air Act).

Thank you @whitehouse.senate.gov for visiting us in #Houston to continue the fight for affordable home insurance.

Insurance costs are skyrocketing bc of #ClimateChange. Residents are boxed into policies w/ soaring premiums and often can’t get new plans.

Meanwhile extreme weather is increasing.

Political violence is unAmerican. Dangerous rhetoric casually thrown around must stop.

MN Speaker Emerita Hortman and her husband have been assassinated in their home. State Sen. Hoffman and his wife shot, seriously injured in theirs.

This wasn’t the first.

Today’s peaceful #NoKing protests are a reminder of what and who #Houston is, and our message of democracy and freedom.

As we welcomed 15k+ people to City Hall, it was my privilege to introduce our veterans at today’s rally and recognize volunteers, organizers, labor, and public safety personnel.

I'm being told by eyewitnesses #ICE is waiting in hallways of #Houston immigration courts to arrest individuals when cases are *dismissed* due to a loophole. If you're an attorney (Spanish fluency preferred) and can volunteer time at the courthouse to help families please email info@fielhouston.org

IFYKYK: Traveling with your little ones can be hard, going to the bathroom shouldn’t be.

Family-friendly child seats are being installed at #Houston airports! First ones are in at new IAH Terminal D West family restrooms!

❤️ to our Airport team for working with me to make this happen.

Houston must be prepared for increasing natural disasters and extreme weather. As City Council considers the FY26 budget, it needs to reflect the realities of today.

I will continue to keep the focus on disaster preparedness funding. #DistC

We pause in solemn remembrance of those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of our nation, our democratic values, and our belief in freedom and self-determination.

We can never repay what their families have lost on behalf of a grateful nation. #MemorialDay
