So we’re halfway through NaNoWriMo. I have over 40,000 words typed. So, that’s way too much. I got a book today that will help me with editing in December. It’s called Self Editing for Fiction Writers by Brown and King. I’m pretty excited about it I know it will help. #WritingCommunity #AmWriting.

I thought I had finished the first act but no. I finished the first act for sure by writing the first scene that includes pirates. Cliché, but I love it. I’ve written 33,000 words in 11 chapters. I’m now brainstorming ways to torment my protagonist and support characters #WritingCommunity#AmWriting.

I just watched a video advocating writers and poets must experience life to write well. And I agree, however: Emily Dickinson. She didn’t do crap. She stayed home. Didn’t do anything. I mean she talked to people, but she didn’t go anywhere. She focused on great writing. #WritingCommunity #AmWriting.

I think I finished the first act. I’m not sure but I’m satisfied with the story’s progress. My protagonist still needs to run into the pirates, slip their first net, and make his first delivery and the supporting characters need to assert themselves, but it’s happening. #WritingCommunity #AmWriting.

Today was a struggle. A family member was hospitalized and I had to do the babysitting. I still wrote 2000+ words for NaNoWriMo and I wrote a poem. Sometimes life happens when you’re writing and you have to stuff it all into tiny little corners to get the work done #WritingCommunity #AmWriting.

Sometimes when revising poetry, I get hung up because I’m not seeing problems so I will switch fonts from Garamond to something San-serif like courier and change the line spacing up. This changes the document’s perspective and appearance so revision becomes easier. #WritingCommunity #AmWriting.
