Once long ago I drew a #webcomic about parenting and running ...and pi.

Here's an old one from my revived archives...

Sound Logic
Often when I came up with an idea for comic there was not enough material to build up into a full multi-panel joke. An offhand comment, a captured moment, or a simple glimpse at parenthood made for enough material to explain itself. In the tradition of single panel comics I often jumped into this format […]

Winter running sometimes means learning how to skate in the dark. It’s still pretty icy out there folks!

It's not an endorsement, but I finally got a pair of those fancy fruit flavoured wireless earphones and it's like a cone of silence for your creative brain.
Undistraction Technology
I’ve been pondering distraction quite a lot this past week. I spent some reward points and redeemed myself a pair of those new wireless earphones from that fruit company we all love so much. They are…

This is Practicing (2)
My three panel black and white strips were published over the course of a mid-week posting spree, and through them I tried to tell a (still short) but longer arc story. For that reason you’ll see a (number) in the title because each is part of a trilogy of strips on the same topic. The […]

...maybe this is obvious, but I don’t think we realize how important stable health is for having a creative lifestyle until suddenly we are not healthy anymore, even temporarily.

Healthful
Three weeks ago I slipped on some neighbourhood icy sidewalks and wrenched a muscle in my back. It hurt for two and a half weeks and I was in enough pain that I had to temporarily suspend my fitness r...

February has been a lot of spring running.

I am just off three weeks of couch rest after slipping on the ice. Things have not improved.

Climate change doesn't mean just warmer weather, it also means a roller coaster of freeze and thaw cycles, and unpredictability for traction on the paths.

Nothing quite like an undisturbed hour of recording ambient synth jams in the basement with the lights dimmed and the volume just right.

I finished my rewatch of 3 Body Problem S1 this evening.

Underrated. Bring on season 2!

There you are, just a guy in front of a keyboard waiting for inspiration to strike?
Doing Time
Writers block is not myth but I am starting to think it is often a symptom of a larger issue. I don’t think that struggling to put words on the screen is an issue of having nothing to say, I think it…

I finally finished Stranger Things.

It was a bit of a puzzle tho: fun, emotional and riveting …while somehow simultaneously being weakly-written, over-narrated and full of gaping plot holes.

A solid 7.

We had our annual sectionals at orchestra yesterday evening, which is like bootcamp for just your instrument squad.

Last night I was dreaming in sixteenth notes.

This year, every weekday I’ve been writing at least 500 words of fiction, and at least half of those words are in order and spelled correctly.

I think social media is a bit like caffeine. Sometimes I need to take a break from the jolt to know that I can still walk away on my own terms when I need to.

I've been writing a silly little creative inspirations blog for 2026, trying to post something short and quippy every weekday.

Nothing super deep: just stuff I think about when I'm trying to find the motivation to write words or make music or draw stuff.
