Excellent performances by all last night at the first @840series.bsky.social event for quite some time at St Cyprian's Church - I especially liked the autumnal feel of James Creed's 'Plain Song' which closed the concert, and Egidija Medekšaitė's – T e x t i l e 1 was a real toe-tapper!

Our concert is tomorrow! You can now read the programme – threads and textiles, chorales and plain songs, 16th-century music, “17th-century music”, and more. It’s going to be a good one!

Introducing Darius Paymai, whose "sonnerie, air" is premiered on 20/09. Written as an hommage to Satie in the centenary year of his death, the piece draws on Satie’s Sonneries de la Rose+Croix from the same period as Vexations, which gave 840 its name.

Premiere of Plain Song by James M. Creed at our 20 September concert.

Built from pairs of dyads that gradually form chords, the piece creates shifting impressions of chant, hocket, and dance, as players navigate shared yet subtly different material.
