I’ve tried to think of a benign explanation for Trump’s plan to pardon Juan Orlando Hernández, but I’ve come up empty.

The administration claims that the U.S. is engaged in a literal armed conflict against foreign drug traffickers, and the president is pardoning a notorious foreign drug trafficker?
Trump to add notorious Honduran drug trafficker to his list of scandalous pardons
If the president believes the U.S. is at war with drug traffickers, why does he want to pardon Juan Orlando Hernández?

As Trump pardons a real estate developer who’d been charged with corruption by his own Justice Department, an unsettling fact appears obvious:

Trump made a right-turn at *abiding* corruption and is now, though his pardon abuses, effectively *encouraging* corruption. www.ms.now/rachel-maddo...
With yet another controversial pardon, Trump derails his own DOJ’s corruption case
There’s a fine line between a president using pardons to abide corruption and using them to encourage corruption.

Meiselas: Right now, this idea of the bully has been glorified, and we have to disabuse people of that notion and say, “Nah, that’s weakness.” Stop blaming your problems marginalized groups.

We have to proudly support communities that have been under attack—’cause they’re human beings, dammit.

The largest war ship in the world has been moved to the Caribbean, along with other ships, bombers, amphibious vehicles and more.

That’s a lot of firepower to stop small vessels carrying drugs.

It looks a lot more like preparation for war.

Congress needs to get involved before it’s too late.

Oh you're trying to say the cost of living is skyrocketing?

Donald Trump can't hear you over the sound of bulldozers demolishing a wing of the White House to build a new grand ballroom.

Again, it is a full-blown federal felony crime for anyone in the White House or Executive Office of the President to order tax investigations into anyone.

And it's not just a crime to DO it, it's even a federal crime for an employee not to REPORT such an order to the Treasury Inspector General.

You have to see this.

PoliticsGirl and her husband teamed up with the brilliant Timothy Snyder (author of On Tyranny) and the legendary John Lithgow to create something truly powerful. It’s important, it’s urgent—and it needs to be shared far and wide.
