Modern conservatism is fuckyouism.

I’m old enough to remember when government policy allowed ordinary people to accumulate wealth and buy a home. Now the system doesn’t work for ordinary people trying to build wealth; it works primarily for wealthy people who want to preserve and increase their wealth. That’s not sustainable.

Winter is coming. Feed the poor in your communities. Look into the eyes of the last, the lost, the least, the forgotten, the lonely and their children and do your part. I know it’s not enough, but do what you can.

Hang on! Before we give handouts we should make sure they are buying nutritious food and not soda pop with the money.

I am a centrist moderate. My politics are inadequate for these times. Time to get out of the way. Let’s see what the future brings.

I just want the country to have a fairly elected mainstream party in power and a loyalist opposition party that disagrees with the policies of party in power, but respects the institutions of government and both want to find a way forward for the American people. Is this impossible? I fear it is.

I am leaving home to to serve in my Episcopal parish’s alms ministry. The numbers of people in need are increasing every week. Food security is a growing concern. And winter is coming. Buckle up.

David Brooks was on Morning Joe today.
He was talking about the No Kings protests, and saying that as a conservative, most left protests do not inspire him to join.
But the recent No Kings did. It was all those ”normie” grandmas carrying American flags

If we step back far enough, liberals and conservatives appear to agree on broad principles. It’s an illusion. From an extreme distance our objectives may seem convergent, but they are fundamentally different. Don’t be mistaken. This is a fight.

I’m on this side of cancer surgery and chemo. Now it’s monitoring. Would I preferred not getting sick? Absolutely. But I would rather be the person I am - with my cancer experience- rather than a person I don’t know.

I am shouting into the void here, but this Trump administration will be condemned in the future as the most antidemocratic presidency in American history.

This country - mainly this administration and the MAGA Movement - is loading too much responsibility on the judiciary to protect the people that need protection from the government. Something will give unless this country - mainly those who believe that majority rule has limits - steps the hell up.
