There has been a lot of chatter today about Zelenskyy's meeting with Trump, some regarding this moment when White House correspondent Brian Glenn asked if the Ukrainian president plans to wear a suit. I want to address idea in this thread. 🧵

The WHCA members refused to stand strong with the AP, so now they get to stand alongside bootlickers like Glenn here.

I guess that’s where they think they truly belong, and not outside with the real reporters.
The guy who asked Zelensky if he owned a suit, Brian Glenn, is a reporter for the pro-Trump media network Real America’s Voice and also Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene's boyfriend. He got one of the rare Oval Office interviewer spots only after the White House blocked the Associated Press.

As you watch Trump berate and put his hand on Zelenskyy just ask yourself one simple question: could you ever imagine him speaking to Putin like this?
BREAKING: There has just been a huge argument between Zelenskyy, Trump & Vance in the Oval Office.

Trump calls Zelenskyy disrespectful and says he “is no position to dictate” to the US.

Trump raises his voice to Zelenskyy. He can’t stand someone standing up to him.

This is unbelievable.

Without going all Martin Niemöller here, I do think that it's bad not to speak up for immigrants, transgender Americans, civil servants, women, Ukraine, and everyone else the MAGA bullies are going after. We're beyond picking and choosing whom to defend. It's time to stand up and speak out.

“Ideological purity” and “over the top Wokeism” aren’t characteristics of actual Democratic politicians; they are insults used by Republicans for political gain. A competent politician could simply refuse to go along with the ruse.

I was shown a letter from one grantee who was specifically flagged for non-compliance because their grant application includes the term "racial equity." They must now literally certify they are not doing any racial equity-related work. Crazy, totalitarian, racist conduct by the feds right now.

Vance is a master of the sanctimonious reframe. He does it constantly. He’s morally outraged that you would be concerned w/facts.

When a rumor stands in for a bigger theme -when the rumor mill serves the propaganda machine - details are secondary. You can always pivot focus to the bigger theme.

To focus JUST on the economy for a sec (as opposed to deportations, civil rights, medical care, privacy): Many people I know are currently losing their jobs, facing huge biz losses, and/or seeing their whole organizations collapse due to Trump/Musk's upending of government. This ain't it, sir
Oh boy, there's more. At a presser minutes ago, Jeffries says he's powerless:

JOURNALIST: To what extent will Dems withhold votes in the negotiations?

JEFFRIES: Repubs control trifecta, it’s THEIR govt. What leverage do we have? We’re going to continue to try to find bipartisan common ground...

This is called a reframe. The focus is being shifted from the beliefs of the person in question to how they were exposed.

The absolutism make little sense if you think about it - what if a reporter exposes crimes? What’s a “bad dude”? The goal is for moral outrage to cloud rational thought.

Great piece illustrating how the Post editorial board are lowering themselves to Trump’s degraded standards rather than treating his nominees as they should if they believed their own reporters.
(And not clear why endorsing Cabinet officials was called for when they could not endorse a President).
