I don’t always like to be a “you had to be there” sorta person, but MJ’s celebrity really makes no sense if you weren’t there to see it. Getting 135m people to sit in front of a television in 1993 is an ASTOUNDING accomplishment

I think trying to pass off bland, unpopular country artists as “the real America” is the perfect allegory for MAGA as a whole. A bunch of weird fucks whose biggest issue is that the zeitgeist left them behind decades ago.
The biggest lie conservatism sells is that it’s the silent majority, not a loud, strange minority. What it fears most is that empathy is normal, and exclusion is what stands out.
