The City of Burien this week announced that it is reaffirming its support for transgender and gender-diverse residents, citing the importance of inclusion, dignity, and safety amid what advocates describe as a wave of federal rollbacks on transgender rights. The Burien City Council renewed its formal support during a meeting on Feb. 24, 2025, just ahead of International Transgender Day of Visibility, observed annually on March 31.
