Anyone who has encountered strength knows that it is often silent to slights. The Roy Cohn “always fight, no matter how petty” model is a sign of deep weakness and insecurity. The only reason it appears to work is that most of the time, there’s room to avoid you.

Fun fact: the founders argued about what to call the head of the executive branch. They didn’t want it to sound powerful or “king like”. They settled on an old parliamentary term meaning “one who is in attendance”: president.

The most pernicious aspect of this administration is that we are forced to say things we never thought we’d say. Before having a toddler, you’d never say “don’t stick a sandwich into the mail slot.” Today, I’m forced to say “Those tits really should have been drawn bigger”.
