So many people were detained extrajudicially, were tortured, or died because of Dick Cheney. You can't get to the danger we're in now without everything he did. The weapons he helped forge are ones we need to take away from U.S. presidents forever.

Dick Cheney’s legacy is: he and his coconspirators took advantage of the collective fear and grief post-9/11 to lie their way into a vanity oil war that got a million people killed.

If this were a 30 minute sitcom, the judge would say this and then the camera would immediately cut to a new scene where Bovino is throwing like five tear gas canisters right into a trick-or-treater’s candy bag.
Ellis says that, given her chat with Bovino today, "I don't know that we're going to see a whole lot of tear gas being deployed over the next week."

Definitely read this @jaywillis.net banger about a part of modern US history I had no idea of. There’s a direct lesson here for anyone thinking about the whole Graham Platner nazi tattoo business.
We need new language to write about politics. Calling a disgraced former governor and a failed corrupt one-term mayor “moderate” comes off as lazy. Whatever your understanding of politics, these guys do not represent the ideological middle ground. Gift link.
