Research shows 5 major factors or resilience:
1. Accepting reality even if it's hard.
2. Asking for help.
3. Being patient; knowing what feels like forever in the moment is not.
4. Narrative that you'll grow from struggle.
5. Routine—helps to activate and provides predictability.

Joy doesn’t mean you’re not paying attention.
Joy doesn’t mean you’re dumb.
Joy in a time of mind-f*ckery IS resistance.

2 of 3 reviewers on my interpretive qualitative paper want intercoder reliability tests, random sample to prevent selection bias, tables w/counts, comparison to those not interviewed, & generalizability. If you are NOT qualified to review qualitative research, please say no to the journal's request.

Don't fall into the trap of engaging in anticipatory obedience.
Carry on with your extraordinary self.
Carry on with your commitment to justice, equity, and good.

Ooooh... putting this on my "to listen" list!

That's a good idea! I need to update my communication scholar starter list (a long weekend task) and this would make it much easier!

Preach.
Uncharacteristcally long 🧵 (sorry) re: #Qualitative methodologies, science, and 'AI'.

As Qualitative researchers, we should definitely care and remain curious about what 'good work' can look like - but we should be very wary about assuming that a focus on 'rigour' will address this question. 1/13
