Early modern nerd, women writers, book history, editing , also trivial personal posts on gardens, food etc

History 33%
Art 24%

It was such a wonderful experience . Was Brook the first to double Titania / Hyppolita etc ?

Trapezes insured by the Brook dream? Which I was lucky enough to see on its Australian tour.

My partner, also a labourer in the fields of the mind, being assisted by the bad dog.

Yep got it, thanks

Just stop working it’s 42

So I post this and two minutes later read a review in the guardian of izabella Scott ‘S the bed trick. As we say in my household: what are the chances ?

Thanks will check it out

Great thanks I haven’t read insatiate countess sounds perfect

#earlymodern ok drama people apart from M for M and Alls Well which plays have bed tricks. Just beds eg Chaste Maid don’t count for my purposes.

#earlymodern I was lucky enough to be taught by Harold love and one of his golden rules was always go back to the original source so it did take all day yesterday to find the bit of Malone quoted by Schoenbaum and it was worth it not because Schoenbaum misquoted I hasten to say.

I think I only have one more handbook/companion essay left in me. Have always been grateful to have been taken by surprise by the inimitable Andrew Hadfield who asked me to write about early modern essays when everyone else was asking me to write about early modern fiction

Dog in exile

Yuuki has stolen the dog’s bed

Can’t find my old notes on it. I agree it might be about time also repetition because Clifford loved doing and recording things over and over and over again

Great thanks.

#earlymodern Does anyone know the price of Jo Roberts’ edition of Mary Wroth’s poems when it was first published in 1983?

42 degrees today

New year resolution : be more like this.

Thanks for the mention Andrew. It was a fun project.

Writing a small
Book is much harder than writing a long one.

It’s a pesto time of year here

Ladies Diary started by tipper in 1704 and lasted until 1841

I think for teaching purposes better to have a
Number of poems by each author rather than lots and lots of single poems.

Love that cavendish is associated with Melbourne!

🚨 Help our State Library!

Executives are trying to cut 11 permanent librarian positions, meaning 10 frontline librarians would remain to run Australia's busiest library.

They are proposing to outsource the library's critical information technology team.

Alas here too but I’ll be able to steer you towards some very reasonably
priced pub food.

I’d love to be there … congratulations from far far away looking forward to reading it soon.

Tipper started The Ladies Diary in 1704 but EEBO, 18th C online, and so far BL, Bod., Folger, Huntington only have 1706 not 1704 or 1705. Help. (ESTC starts with 1706 but in 21706 he clearly says this is No. 3). Does anyone know howe to access 1704, or 1705?
