very interesting study! Vaia is such a prominent wind storm case study. Very much appreciate that ungulate browsing was studied so widely, as forest resilience of the future stand will be strongly affected by high ungulate densities!
Five years after VAIA:

– Norway spruce dominates regeneration (67%), but only 26% of plots meet targets.
– Browsing affects 25% of seedlings, especially Rowan, Willow, and Silver fir.

Management should promote species diversity and control browsing.
