I have a new article out in the Milken Institute Review

Diane Ty and I lay out the caregiver crunch facing America in the very near future and offer policy actions that can be taken to blunt the blow.

Education economists, you’re welcome for the free exam question.

My kids’ school district did 3 hour early release once a month for teacher development. The superintendent now says that because test scores were up this year the program was a success.

Also, to improve upon this success the dates will be moved from Mondays to Wednesdays.

Tomatoes, cucumbers, zucchini, basil, thyme, garlic, sugar snap peas, broccoli, kale, beets, carrots, and blueberries

Shouldn’t have given him the Khoa Vu bump

How do we create sustainable funding for preventive care? Often the economics are there but the roadblock is due to insufficient data capture and analytics.

I had assumed that given the Peltzman effect a sharper knife would make me safer. Unfortunately I was constrained by my mental focus capacity.

Brand new very sharp chefs knife. Time to focus my mental energy to avoid cutting myself while cooking.

So of course, I burn myself.

Time for our kids new Christmas Eve tradition of writing letters to Trader Joe’s to complain about them discontinuing items we like

This one is all them and I’m here for it

Health policy hot take: System complexity is regressive.

The day after my first was born I was sitting and holding him and said to my wife,

“He’s already so big, it feels like he was born just yesterday.”

And that’s how you almost die by telling a dad joke.

Family game of monopoly, I was winning. Landed on my son, lot of 1$. Not enough to wipe me out but enough to extend the game.

My offer: I’ll give you everything and you win. In exchange you clean up the board without making a huge fuss, and we can play something else.

Jay Bhattacharya picked as new NIH director.

Jay wrote me my first ever journal rejection letter.

I also now have a textbook that competes with his textbook.

My book came out one year ago.

It was the most fun I’ve had writing professionally.

Thank you so much to everyone that has read it or used it.

Knowing that people are enjoying it makes me so incredibly happy.

Dad jokes are a pedagogical tool.
