I need to work up the spoons to send my Xcode project to Apple’s “code-level support” to figure out why it refuses to run any SwiftUI on watchOS, I wish building something for this platform weren’t such a constant slog

Looks like iOS MAUI Dev on VS2026 is only working with MAUI NET10 (and I can see it installing the iOS 26.x / NET 10.x components when pairing to the MAC). The release notes however claim it will work with XCode 16.4 (which is iOS18 not iOS26) - am I missing something here?

I dream about the year where alongside the new Xcode, Apple announces:

"AppleCode, our new software development tool, written from the ground up for Swift and Apple Silicon"

No support for Interface builder, objective-c, or x86-64.

It is time for a new foundation.

So I just wrote “fuck” instead of “func” 😂

I guess it’s time for a break. #Xcode #iosdev #indiedevs

Nach ein paar Tagen läuft die Kiste deutlich runder (no pun intended). Der iPhone Simulator und Xcode sind weiterhin komplett broken, aber das ist kein allgemeines macOS-Problem.

Here’s the exception as captured by Xcode. I think it has to do with UITableViewCell.backgroundConfiguration but haven’t nailed down the fix just yet.

I am the only person (that I know of) who can trigger an malloc-error-break by calling "stringByAppendingString".
I don't know if I should be appalled or impressed.

Xcode users. If your Mac is getting unusually warm running Xcode 26.1 (17B55) and macOS 26.1 check the Console for MercuryPosterExtension.ips files filling the crash reports. In ActivityMonitor, "ReportCrash" will be burning up your CPUs. It's related to SwiftUI Previews. FB20986632

I got the book updated. Turned out the Xcode project has the correct code, I just forgot to update the book afterwards.

Not 100% sure about todays situation, but a while back XCode was the only way to make a UI and you still need the XCode toolchain to build a binary.
