In the last few weeks, I’ve spent quite some time in the German e-invoicing corner of Business Central – specifically around the xRechnung and ZUGFeRD formats that Microsoft ships on top of the E-Documents framework. These formats are strategically important. With B2B e-invoicing becoming mandatory in Germany in phases from 2025 onwards, and formats like xRechnung and ZUGFeRD explicitly listed as compliant EN 16931 syntaxes, quality matters a lot more than “it usually works”.

Folge; Lieferant sendet Rechnungsvorschau. Die wird abgeglichen. Dann wird die offizielle Rechnung erstellt.
Passt die Gesamtsumme, wird es gemäß Vorschau auf die Bestellungen verbucht.
Da ist unsere XRechnung einfacher.

This module provides an internal API for working with PDF documents in Business Central. It supports basic PDF manipulation tasks, primarily focused on extracting embedded XML e-invoices and metadata from PDFs, such as Factur-X, XRechnung, and ZUGFeRD formats. You can use this module to: Extract invoice attachments from PDF documents Download all attachments as a ZIP archive Retrieve PDF metadata (author, title, page size, etc.) List the names of all embedded attachments Sanitize filenames and save file content from streams Convert a PDF page to an image
