'The #WSIB is underfunded and under-compensates injured workers. The so-called surplus exists as a result of laws, policies, and decisions which have now led to an unprecedented transfer of wealth from injured workers to big business.'

Important thread.
For a time, SAG rules around precautions meant ACTRA sets were also safe. SAG dropped their requirements, so ACTRA did too.
I wish OSHA or WSIB or any workplace safety org or union would protect their workers. Unions, employers, and governments have demonstrated they won't.

Actually good advice, albeit delivered dramatically. Reminds me of the Ontario’s gruesome WSIB series of “Prevent It” commercials. TV stations didn’t want to show these PSAs! Easy to find if interested; I’m not providing a link because they are very gruesome (particularly “The Chef”)

Only half the part. The other half is the supports injured workers receive. WSIB is notorious for kicking injured workers off even if they are still unable to work. Employers are notorious for making up reasons to give to WSIB to kick them off. The supports themselves are barely if ever adequate

Honestly, though it’s getting to the point if I was an employee in my employer was demanding to go across border I’d be filling out a WSIB unsafe work form and every single Canadian employee should be doing the same

While injured workers & their families continue to live in poverty, #WSIB is giving another $2 billion of money meant to help them back to employers. I am beyond infuriated. We live in such a backwards world. No wonder in that in addition to poverty, depression is also high amongst injured workers

Ask yourself for a second why WSIB might have a $2B surplus? Is it because they almost automatically deny many claims the first time around, hedging their bets that people won't appeal? 🤔

The WSIB is broken―injured workers know this, but so do the frontline staff who have noticed first hand how the organization puts profits over people.
When you're injured on the job, you should be able to depend on the WSIB to keep your head above water.
