In the original myth, Blodeuwedd was turned into an owl by Gwydion as punishment, and shunned by other birds. Modern views often see this as liberation. As an owl, she is free from human expectations, a creature of the night, and a symbol of wisdom and wildness.

St Melangell was a Welsh hermit, abbess, and patron saint of hares, famous for her legend where she sheltered a hunted hare under her cloak, leading a prince to grant her land for a sanctuary in Pennant Melangell, Wales.

In Welsh mythology, Blodeuwedd (also known as"flower-face") was a woman magically created from flowers. She was later transformed into an owl as punishment for betraying her husband, Lleu Llaw Gyffes, and cursed to be a creature of the night.

Gwion Bach was also known as Taliesin, who could morph into any animal. There is a village called Taliesin that lies inbetween Machynlleth and Aberystwyth.
