Do you love the Adams County Library? Thank Elsie Singmaster Lewars, a nationally known writer, who petitioned the Adams County commissioners to establish a public library in Gettysburg. Its first building was at 135 Carlisle Street in 1945. #gettysburghistory #welovelibraries

Try local libraries for e-books and audiobooks, Hoopla, CloudLibrary, Palace apps. All you need’s a local library card, which you may have to go in for, but is free! Most libraries don’t charge late fees, so even if you owed, it’s probably been waived-a big deterrent for some folks. #WeLoveLibraries

Libraries have a beloved and rightful place in the heart of communities across the U.S. Please continue to support them and fight for their renewed funding. This is unnecessary and cruel. #librariesareforeveryone #informedcitizenry #ala #welovelibraries
More from ALA Pres. Cindy Hohl: "By cutting off federal support from libraries, the Trump administration is cutting off opportunity for the American people – economically, culturally, professionally and socially."

Some exciting news from @economist.com. All American service members—all 1.3m active duty, and those retired—now have free access to The Economist's website, thanks to a deal with DoD. If I'm not mistaken, you can access it through DoD's library pages: www.dodmwrlibraries.org. Happy reading.
