Lex Luger posted a photo of himself standing on a ladder to trim a Christmas tree. He said he hadn't been able to do this in "almost 2 decades," ever since a 2007 spinal stroke left him paralyzed. He credited his progress to DDP Yoga.

In the old days, an ECW guy or ROH guy or whoever would get signed away, and people in WWF/WCW and fans online would question if they could get over in the new environment. The style gap between indies and the big 2, and their fan bases, were different enough to warrant that.

ECW tried to find an audience of fans who thought WWF/WCW weren't cool or edgy, were too kiddy. They also went after those more hardcore fans who felt they had no home in the duldrums of early-mid 90s WWF/WCW.

SMW, very nakedly, tried to serve fans who missed the southern territorial style wrestling that WWF had largely squashed and WCW had moved away from. ROH went after the tape traders, the WCW cruiserweight fans, the workrate nerds that felt hung out to dry in the early 00s.

If you look at modern wrestling history, indies thrive when the top of the industry contracts, when there's a gap to fill. Smokey Mountain and ECW came out of the death of the territories. ROH came out of the death of ECW and WCW. Right now, there isn't that gap.

And here I thought WCW was a wrestling thing. I've no clue about this! I'd j were to make a post about this then it'd go on forever because I have a crush on most of the women I interact with on here. 👀

I just found out that #wcw is a thing and it's for people to shout out women they have a crush on and I realized that I don't know what it is because nobody has ever listed me.

Even back then, wcw 88-94 is wildly different than the nostalgic Saturday morning cartoons that the wwf was producing. Their is imo some really fun stuff, yet you have to untrain yourself from what you know as the modern style.

The early to mid 90s in WCW were excellent. Then it wasn’t. Simple as that.

There is no value anymore in WCW. Trying to watch it in 2025 with AEW existing, AEW is the child that got better genes from both parents.

Similar to what WCW did to themselves with Goldberg. You know, except without all the nagging scandalous stuff about Lesnar.

Randy Savage photo (credit Wade Keller (c) PWTorch) SPOTLIGHTED PODCAST ALERT (YOUR ARTICLE BEGINS A FEW INCHES DOWN)... The following report originally published 30 years ago this week in the Pro Wrestling Torch Newsletter paper copy… KELLERâ€S WCW NITRO REPORTNOVEMBER 6, 1995ORIGINALLY PUBLISHED IN THE PRO WRESTLING TORCH NEWSLETTER (ISSUE #361) (1) The Giant defeated Cobra. Giant claimed it was a title match, but Eric Bischoff vehemently said it wasn’t a title match because the Giant was not the champion… -Gene Okerlund interviewed wrestlers in the heel locker room – Ric Flair, Big Bubba, Diamond Dallas Page, Robert Eaton, Steven Regal, Scott Norton, and Shark… -Tony Schiavone was in the babyface locker room with Sting, Johnny B. Badd, Hacksaw Duggan, Alex Wright, Dave Sullivan, The Nasty Boys, and Mr. J.L. All of the wrestlers acted as juvenile as usual in these “vote for me!” segments… -A segment aired “from Venice Beach” with Hulk Hogan and Randy Savage “going back to their roots.” Hogan asked Savage to stick with him on his walk through the dark side. There was a crazy old guy between them imitating Steve McMichael at age 55… ARTICLE CONTINUED BELOW… Check out the latest episode of “PWTorch ’90s Pastcast” with Patrick Moynahan and Alex McDonald, part of the PWTorch Dailycast line-up: CLICK HERE to stream (or search “wade keller†on Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or any other iOS or Android app to subscribe free) (2) “Taskmaster” Kevin Sullivan (mgd. by Jimmy Hart) beat Renegade. (Renegade clotheslined Sullivan over the top rope and Sullivan took the bump!) The announcers didn’t acknowledge the history between Jimmy Hart and Renegade. Sullivan executed a flip splash over the top rope and a double foot stomp off the second rope for the win. Hart wiped Renegade’s facepaint off Renegade after the match, told him he was nothing, and said, “You’re not the Renegade, you’re just plain ol’ Rick”… -Okerlund interviewed a hyper Flair who asked for Sting… (3) Eddie Guerrero pinned Chris Benoit although Benoit’s feet were under the ropes. During the match Bischoff talked more about the upcoming Cruiserweight tournament. They cut away from the action in the ring to show Masa Chono, Kensuke Sasaki, Masa Saito, and Jushin Liger at ringside. Bischoff plugged the 900 poll and said he wants to see Flair vs. Sting… -Schiavone interviewed Sting in the babyface locker room. Sting said Flair used Little Stingers to get what he wanted, “which is something you don’t do in life”… -Bischoff announced the fans picked Sting vs. Flair… Flair came to the ring without a robe. Sting aggressively attacked Flair at the bell…. -An interview with Jimmy Hart closed the show. Source link

I loved WCW compared to the WWF at the time. They had young and talented wrestlers, physically lean and athletic compared to the WWF at the time which was stiff, bloated, overly tanned, and barely could move (except a few). I immediately left the moment they introduced NWO because they were ugghh 😫.

wcw being a joke is mostly fed propaganda by the way (besides like 1999-2001 which were terrible years). many worthwhile years, shows, stories and matches and if you have an interest in wrestling history there's no reason to turn your nose up at it

I love WCW... 😅
I just like the vibe.. From 89 to 94 it's full of little hidden gems because they had a lot of talents there.. I like the NWA heritage too.
Yes it has a lot of flaws but it only gets really bad from 99 onwards.. And even then I would argue it as value, even just to laugh at it.

I didn’t watch WCW growing up, so as an adult I started checking out their PPVs when the WWE network was a thing. Before hogan there are some excellent cards, once Hogan comes in the under cards are great and the main event scene is garbage.

You know why I never fucking loved WWE? WCW. WCW was amazing, but it's a, "You had to be there," situation. They have a fast channel on YouTube, and they gave me my love of Tony Schiavone. So, props to WCW, and I wish Ted won.

Less run ins to my memory. One of the big problems you notice even on the WCW YouTube page is that they’ll upload matches that sound like they’ll have great potential but then you watch it and there’s a litany of bollocks during the match and run in finish, which makes it unwatchable for new fans
