Teise maailma otsa elanikud irvitavad nurga taga, kui näevad järjekordset pantšakarma-tädide vms vaimlejate kampa neile raha toomas ja teevad rahulolevalt ommmmmm.

Vaata Tallinnas ringi, nael-nael-nael, enamik neist käivad talvel kusagil maal mõned korrad sel perioodil.

God I hated VMS... We only had one at Reigate Cc. Bloody thing was always failing.

I started on the big stuff. Moved to Solaris and Sequent Unix, and Linux in the mid 90s. Ended up program manager delivering the infrastructure for BT sport. That project killed me.

My first exposure to proper big iron at Uni during that period was the wonderful DEC VAX minicomputers running VMS. These VT220 terminals. To this day I still run a VT220 emulated terminal on my shells in Linux.

mostly, i find it useful to keep a functional windows install around, because there's a lot of windows-only utilities and applications and sometimes i gotta use em. "why not just use a VM/wine/whatever" sometimes i don't wanna wrestle with that (and also my computers can't give VMs enough juice)

Ma ei tea millest sa räägid, ma mäletan e.maili juhtumit, seletas pärast, et kahtlane tundus küll see arve ja rekvisiidid aga kirjas öeldud, et maksa kohe, tehing pooleli vms.
Eks iga case on eripäradega, suurem osa neist saavad toimuda puhtalt maksja naturaalse rumaluse kaasabil.

On juhtumeid, kus on saadetud raamatupidajale e.mail näiliselt juhatuse /vms/ poolt maksekäsuga. See on tähelepanematus.

Kui sulle helistab keegi ja pakub hea hinnaga bitcoini, aidata politseil pätte tabada, lahendada lähisugulasega seonduvaid probleeme, maksta 2,50 et oma pakk kätte saada jne
Siis

another "childhood story":

I used to think vmware tools was an "universal wddm display driver" that worked on literally anything and not just vms. so my 2014 self went on their way to *burn the vmware tools iso* to a CD for use with "an actual pc", which of course doesn't work

Ransomware Turmoil: How Akira Targets Nutanix VMs While a Fragmented Threat Landscape Accelerates
Introduction: Rising Chaos Inside the Ransomware Underworld The cyber threat landscape is shifting fast, and every new report seems to uncover another layer of complexity. The recent activity surrounding Akira ransomware marks yet another moment where attackers push deeper into enterprise infrastructure, particularly virtualized environments like Nutanix VMs. At the same time, major threat groups such as LockBit and Kraken continue advancing their encryption engines, intensifying the arms race between defenders and criminals.

Have you considered heating your home with a fuckload of servers off eBay? Dual socket 8c/16t mid 2010s systems are like 150 bucks or so, and another 150 for the powerbill - but you can spin up a ton of k3s VMs like it's nothing

Would you recommend kubernetes for home server stuff? I need to set up some VMs alongside a bunch of Docker containers, and I was considering Proxmox, but your kubeposting has me intrigued
