Elle flinched the moment that Raven cut her finger, as if she had been wounded herself. The entrancing scent of blood filled her study, waking that part of her which was never truly satisfied. Her grip tightened on the edge of her desk until the skin of her knuckles was stretched taut. When she'd had a moment to recover, she pulled a dark blue handkerchief out of her coat pocket. "Quickly, press this to your hand. You should not lose more." As she offered the piece of cloth, her eyes fixed on the crimson drop which slid down the young woman's arm and soaked into the sleeve of her dress. It was lucky that Elle wasn't famished but the sight was always a powerful temptation regardless.

The sudden change in demeanor did not go unnoticed. In fact, it made Elle more wary of Raven than she had been when she walked in to find a dagger sticking out of [redacted]. Wide, dark eyes, batting lashes, and full lips in a pout; it was a practiced maneuver. Worse, it had worked; it tickled her and set alarms ringing simultaneously. Only centuries of perfecting an indifferent facade saved her from embarrassment. “I’ll be a good girl.” Even Raven’s words were part of the act. The woman's cheeks flushed with a deep blush, an aspect harder to summon at will but given due scrutiny nonetheless.
