#unpaidlabor
Society simultaneously degrades #Women doing the necessary #work & shames them if they rise to a level to hire those #jobs out to others. Yet these are #luxury #services to the #elites. However in other countries it's part of #CommunityCare and robust #EconomicEquality. #UnpaidLabor runs the world.
" #WomensWork " is always packaged as either demeaning or a luxury. It's a duty if it's a #Mother doing it as #UnpaidLabor. #Men get paid well if it's packaged as being a #PrivateChef or a #Custodian for an estate. But when women do the same #work, it's looked down on as #unskilled thus, less #money

The fact that the left isn't calling, en masse, for an #unpaidlabor strike shows me just how invisible this labor is even to a lot of people who claim to understand oppression.

I am serious when I call for an #unpaidlabor strike, btw.

Do you know how much the US runs on people--namely oppressed people--doing free or very low cost labor (e.g. sheltered workplaces)?

Think of the women who work as unpaid secretaries for churches and put potlucks together. (more)

An #unpaidlabor strike by everyone forced into caregiving/unpaid work--largely (but not exclusively!) women and girls, and Disabled and Neurodivergent people--would shut the US down within hours and I am frustrated no one is talking about it.

Recently the Equilibria Podcast interviewed me about my Longitudinal #Polyamorous #Family Study. We discussed #childcare, the distribution of #unpaidlabor, and how (these) kids from polyamorous families turn out.

Feeling the burn from work that keeps expanding with no end in sight? 😫 @martinsget sums it up perfectly: "not getting done with the work... you don't get paid." That's a major concern for many! #WorkLifeBalance #UnpaidLabor

Never forget that the entire global economy is upheld by the constant, unpaid labour of billions of women, and without their work, it would crumble instantly.

Unfortunately some women are still overburdened by having to do everything to support men pursuing their chosen careers and goals

Especially running the house, pets, kids, appointments, illnesses, organising everything

Especially if the man is an important worker who flies around in biz class
