The Northrop N-1M, designed by Jack Northrup, on display at the National Air and Space Museum's Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center was much smaller than I thought it would be. Still neat to see.

Two sundays ago, i had the chance to visit the #Smithsonian's #UdvarHazy museum and what an incredible visit. To see the #SR71 & the #Discovery, was breath taking truly. As a USAF very who's first college class was the USAF aviation history class, this was incredible. #concorde #EnolaGay incredible
SR 71 with the Space Shuttle Discovery framed by two classic WWII fighters. This code to an #SR71 thrilling and chilling for this was a plane of American spycraft and might. #WASP #WomensAirCorps uniform. My daughter did a focused project on them. Love their logo #Wasp

The F-4 Phantom is the first airplane I remember remembering. Its iconic lines - the cowlings hugging the cockpit, the slightly bent wings, the exhausts tucked under the tail - made it a favorite of mine as a kid.

Loooong windows are loooong! Look at those cockpit windows on the Concorde! And check out the nose seam that allows the front to drop down while the jet is on the ground (otherwise pilots wouldn’t be able to see to taxi). What a marvelously unprofitable machine!
