do you mean larch trees in general? tamarack trees are apparently only found in north america and i know that we have conifers that shed their needles in winter here in europe too

The titmouse is a very misleading little creature. its name presents a very clear mental image of a very sexy little mouse, but an actual titmouse? that's something even sexier

A Tufted Titmouse perched in a Tamarack tree. Tamarack trees are the only conifers that shed their needles in the winter, which turn yellow before dropping.

❤️ That little guy is seriously cute! Hoping to see an Oak Titmouse in my yard again, they are irregular visitors here and I adore/miss them!

A Tufted Titmouse also came to visit! 🐦

(I want to make a joke so bad)

I also don't do seed in the summer so the squirrels don't tear up my garden bed that's just below the feeder in search of dropped seed, just hummingbird feeders and mealworms, which has anecdotally upped the titmouse broods. I keep hoping for eastern bluebirds but no luck!

I loved listening to this and I think I'm going to keep a list of my own things that don't suck. This minute, it's the call of an oak titmouse like a jay mated with a chickadee, and it's my dog asleep on her back with her legs stretched out long.

What are yours?

A cotton swab holder I made for our bathroom, featuring birds I saw that day, Turkey Vulture, Tufted Titmouse, and Red-bellied Woodpecker.

Good morning! Super-excited to have a visit from a Tufted Titmouse today. They are rare in Ottawa! Forgive the shaky iPhone photo.

A lovely but scruffy little tufted titmouse hiding out in our apple tree.

Wouldn't mind if Powerhouse, Titmouse, The LINE, or Studio La Cachette got that gig as well.
Can’t get TMS, then hire either Bones or Science Saru for the job.

I love their scratchy little voices. We have the Oak Titmouse here and they sound similar.

The "wild" cats only come out at night here, for the most part we're ok for most of the day. In the winter we get inundated with tufted-titmouse but we do get black capped chikadees and nuthatches. I kinfa like the black capped a little more lol

It was an active day in the backyard when I took the dogs out.

The Merlin app really is delightful if you haven’t tried it.
