Thorley Wash Advent post day 17. Southern Marsh Orchid, both Southern Marsh Orchid and Early Marsh Orchid are found at Thorley Wash, generally well hidden among the sedge, rush and other vegetation.

Early Marsh Orchid and Southern Marsh Orchid were both included on the original SSSI citation for the site in 1986. The two species have a range of variants and also hybridise, which can complicate identification.
