Obviously our own reality is a lost scarier as this US President is acting alone at first and doesn't get to replace all the power players with duplicate enablers like in our shit-verse.
Interesting to see a story about a US President airing in late 1963 too.

The best TOL episode to my mind of 41 I've watched. Like all great episodes it send me down several rabbit holes all at once!
A courtroom drama about a robot. It'll be done later and better elsewhere but this was truly great science fiction TV.

Why the alien returned to the place it was being held in captivity is unclear esp as we never see its lodgings. I imagine the short story covers this?
Also why the dupe was left in the museum to begin with? Did James know it was in the next room? So why use a dupe?

To test my theory S2 is better than S1 I must count and compare the eps in each that originate from sci-fi literature. Anthology sci-fi on both TV & radio is always superior if adapted from prose. This ep is a good example of the latter.

I got #1.03 & #1.04 mixed up. #1.04 's review is done so I'll review ep #1.03 now:
Premise was good. So this is where RTD stole his plot for "Aliens of London/World War III". Knew the plagiariser in chief must've got it somewhere.

Not an anthology comics like those Godawful 1950s #Susense and #TheMysteriousTraveler comics I endured in those walkthroughs.
All one story so can be compared to a TV ep.
OK it gets a bit silly but never as bad as those anthology comics.

Despite the usual massive political blindness by Yank writers with the USA having a moonbase with no other countries mentioned as well the moonbase commander not having a chain of command to Earth this was a pretty good experience.
Funky aliens.

This is an adaptation of a totally different novel also called "I, Robot" written by Earl & Otto Binder first published in "Amazing Stories" (Jan-39). This novel predates the Isaac Asimov "I, Robot" collection written later in the 1940s!

I liked the external footage of the base, the direction, acting and also inclusion of a person of colour in the cast.
However the core idea was dated and uninteresting. The nuclear scare never really landed. There are so many far better Arctic base TV eps that this.
