This illustration pictures the two main characters of Tether— a comic I’m developing— Endellion and Sasha. Here they are pictured as adolescents piercing each other’s ears with needle and thread. At the bottom of the illustration they are pictured as adults. Endellion holds her face in her hands, and Sasha is turned away from the viewer. Both of their faces are obscured, and they are connected by their ears with two white threads that reach across the composition before they meet in the middle and are tied together in a bow.

Sketch compilation based off of the recent Sasha and Endellion sketches I posted where I’m trying to further simplify my drawing style. It features: Endellion surrounded by dandelions, Sasha looking mysterious (LOL), young Sasha and Endellion, and Sasha and Endellion trying to kill each other.

Never posted before from the #thistlearchives , the secret Tether characters. Sasha’s entirely fleshed out extended family. Mostly drawings from 2020. Take this all with a grain of salt bc it’s been 5 years lol #tetherposting
Simplified drawings of all the adults in Sasha’s family plus Sasha. From left to right, his aunt’s stoic girlfriend, his uncle’s girl boss wife, his kindly uncle, his girl boss aunt, Sasha, and Sasha’s grandma. At the bottom are some simplified headshots of Sasha’s cousins: His uncle’s three children, and his aunt’s two children. His aunt’s children are actually old enough to remember and have grown up with Sasha before Sasha disappeared. Portraits of Sasha’s entire family. His uncle’s children: Nevena (4), Mayumi (adopted, 8), and Cvetka (11). His aunt’s children: Olena (19) and Tatiana (21). Sasha (20) is between the two older cousins. Then below them are the adults: Magdalena and Uncle Fedya, Grandma Nadezhda, the amicably divorced couple Aunt Dejana and Alyosha, and his aunt’s girlfriend Yaroslava. Simplified drawings of two scenes. In the first, Sasha is teased by Olena and Tatiana as Amon effortlessly oversees his gaggle of baby cousins. Cvetka (11) looks pissed because she’s just at that age, Mayumi (8) is probably asking Amon about bugs he’s seen, and Nevena (4) is in her own world. In the second scene, other Tether mainstays interact with Sasha’s younger cousin. Ambrose (Aristea’s twin brother) has deigned to pick a fight with Cvetka (11) and they are sticking their tongues out at each other. Nevena (4) is strapped to Aristea’s back, who looks a bit shell shocked as she is not the sort of person who has ever seen herself as a babysitter. A character who did not make future story edits (Theo) is carrying a very pleased Mayumi on her back. Endellion, very helpfully, is taking a nap under a nearby tree. So many things going on here. Lots of moments from Sasha’s homecoming. The moment that Sasha’s uncle spots him. Some more detailed outfit drawings of Tatiana/Olena (the text underneath reads, “Both deeply traumatized by Sasha’s disappearance. They were very close as children.”). We find out that Sasha’s uncle owns the family bakery. Sasha, surprised to be alive and at home, is teased about their height by Olena because she is taller. Sasha’s grandma wholeheartedly accepts Endellion into the family and thanks her for taking care of her grandson. Which hits harder now that in the current of the story Endellion spends a while hating Sasha’s guts.

For “Twintails” there’s a drawing of Sasha in cold-weather garb with two braids that are connected in the middle. For “Bun” is a drawing of Sasha in formalwear, surrounded by fire and looking quite ominous. For “Braids” is a drawing of Sasha, with two braids, wearing a huge fancy nightgown and carrying a candle. For “Wavy” is a drawing of Sasha standing in the wind with his arms crossed, long hair flowing behind him. For “Bangs” is a drawing of Sasha in a Star Trek AU, they’re a vulcan and have Spock bangs! For “Short” is a drawing of Sasha whose hair has recently been chopped off. For “Acessories” is a more comfortable and happier looking Sasha, wearing an outfit and single braid adorned with gold and pearl jewelry.

bit of in universe dialogue about my last illustration lol #tetherposting
My illustration “A Faerie of Old” on a dark purple background groin. A few characters stand in front of it as if they were viewing a very large and fancy painting. Sasha and Endellion are there, wearing fancy fae-style outfits. Cyprian is standing across from them in front of the other side of the painting, wearing a very chic fantasy sweater dress. Endellion, who is facing the painting and not the viewer says, “Very colorful.” and Cyprian replies, “Oh yes…” A page that’s just Cyprian explaining his connection to the painting. He says, “My great great great…. great… Well you get it. My great Aunt.” “Very shrewd woman. A magnificent bitch. Genius strategist. She would have made a great queen, but one day she just walked into the wood and never returned.” Endellion replies, “Oh. Damn.”

A turnaround of Sasha in the loose, flowy garments that are characteristic of his place of origin. A drawing of Sasha from one of those expression challenge sheets. This expression is labeled ‘pleased’. Sasha and Endellion both in a large t-shirt that says ‘This is our get along shirt’ Tether characters in modern clothing. Amon’s clothing is labeled as ‘nerd ass clothing’. Endellion’s clothing is ‘easy to move in’. Sasha’s clothing is labeled ‘wears a lot of 70s medieval revival ass clothing but like in a goth way’.

a faerie of old #tetherposting #art
Illustration of a faerie and her dragon dog. The faerie has been described by my roommate as being marshmallows as a character. She is humanoid but has many fantastical traits. All of her upper body and head is covered in curly, luscious hair. Her pale face emerges from it. We can see her eyes, completely black like the eyes of a small bird. Her eyebrows are long and thick, flowing from her face and sideways into her mane seamlessly. Beneath all her hair emerges flowing fabric that covers all the rest of her body. Her coloration is blue, purple, and white. Her dragon dog comes down from the top left of the illustration and wraps around her at the bottom right of the illustration with great elegance. Her dragon dog is blue and green. Its head and ears are long and pointed. His hair and brows are similarly luscious to the faerie’s. They stand on a floor of purple and pink tile with flower motifs. Behind them we can see the pink sky and a single pillar. The purple pillar looks as if it got its own idea about how it wanted to look part way into its carving. Toward the top it explodes into natural shapes as if it had grown that way. The sun is low in the sky and is currently uncovered by the hazy clouds on either side of it.

Chibi version of the faerie from the “A faerie of old illustration.” The dragon-dog is small enough to be held the the faerie’s arms, and his bottom feet are sticking out with little toe beans!! The faerie sort of has a cut impression and, as is the case with chibis, has a more simplified design.

Illustrated scale of how generations of exposure to divine magic can mold change a humanoid’s appearance over long stretches of time, on a scale from “more” to “less”. A side view portrait of Sasha is on the “less” side— there’s nothing different about them to the average person except that their ears are pointed. On the “more” side resembles a character more akin to the woman in my “Faerie of Old” illustration. Her face is almost more bird-like than human-like. She has an inhumanly pointed nose and black eyes like a small bird. She has large fluffy eyebrows that start at the bridge of her nose and stretch back elegantly into her hairline. Her hair is curly and voluminous, swept back away from her face. Between them is a side profile portrait of Cyprian, and when you compare it with other portraits of Cyprian you can really see my thought process and shifting ideas about how I want to draw fae. He looks as he usually does but with longer eyebrows and black eyes. We’ll see if he stays that way. Like the fae behind him, he has much longer ears than Sasha.

Several arrows have piercing his armor and radiate outwards towards the opposite side of the composition. One of the arrows has pierced his neck, from which blood spills. This is the moment he died.
