My dad was a techie for his generation so we had a VHS recorder early too. My mother kept a tape in it that was programmed to record her favorite soap operas each day from 1 pm to 4 pm (All My Children, One Life to Live, and General Hospital). I used to program it to catch movies shown at 3 am.
