I wonder if any enterprising company out there has consider making shelves specifically for tankoban-size volumes and a little larger, like standard Viz Signature size.
I occasionally look at manga shelving videos and think of the wasted space in a normal bookshelf if you're doing one deep...

I forgot how much I missed these characters doing things together. I’ve been way ahead in the manga (not caught up, but well ahead of even what’s been released in tankoban) and so I’ve settled in to the norms of the present comic.

This is one of those times where I wish I had art, my OC laying in bed, reading Ranma tankoban 2 with this poster on the wall. And underneath it says “Gender TF fan since 1989” 💕 Living in TX, early newsgroups an GEnIE, discovering anime & manga again, was HUGE. But Ranma had the biggest impact 🥰

I think the release and distribution model of manga (specifically Tankoban volumes, though magazines are great) is vastly superior to what is done with western comics due to the simplicity and benefits for readers, but otherwise both have their strengths and weaknesses.

They're both pretty great. Baby Birth is short, though, only 2 tankoban and kind of ends aorta abruptly but really beautiful. Trash is also beautiful. It's fun seeing the small places and ppl in the Macross universe that the big hero main characters don't have time for too

And of course there's the cost. Most floppies cost 5 bucks for 19 pages meaning you can by an entire tankoban for the price of 3 issues.

I got too spoiled on these bigger deluxe hardcover editions of manga. It’s hard to go back to normal tankoban volumes.
