I am also extremely autistic and, according to multiple professionals, somewhere on the spectrum of SZPD (the folks I work with mostly don't diagnose personality disorders). I absolutely know that the kinds of groups that the OP is in wouldn't accept someone like me. Which makes this extra enraging

I have SzPD. Maladaptive daydreaming and building worlds and creating characters in my head is a huge part of my life.
And I will probably go to the grave without telling a single person about any of my characters or worlds. I feel this.

and i know avpd and szpd are similar and it’s also not uncommon to have both.

But I have both ASD and SzPD so I'm neurodivergent in ways that people are aware of and I'm also neurodivergent in ways that people aren't aware of and are poorly understood. And because of this, I'm some alien who doesn't understand human behavior and can't mimic it well and will never fit in.

I didn't start out writing her with it. But I knew there was "something" specific and defineable about her odd reactions to things. Once I realised it matched the profile of a person with SzPD I started being more deliberate about both including and humanising those traits.

Given how much SzPD and StPD are associated with rich inner fantasy worlds, I have to wonder how many SFF writers have these personality disorders.
I'd imagine StPD would be more common than SzPD just because anyone with SzPD would be hampered by avolition, which StPD people usually don't have.

AvPD is in Cluster C but there's a whole body of evidence pointing towards it being a form of schizotypy along with SzPD, StPD, and PPD. And there is a direct through line connecting SzPD with BPD and NPD in Cluster B, with some research indicating people with NPD have a schizoid core.
