One of my first commercial jobs was working at Symbian where one of many horrible jobs I had was to get the IrDA stuff working with PPP. Pretty sure that’s what made my hair go grey in my early 20s.

See I'm the opposite. I loathe iOS, though I'll admit I've barely touched it since iOS 9. That was a work phone that I only used as a phone and to read urgent emails.
And I did carry an iPhone for 2.5 years. But that was in the infancy. I wouldn't give up Symbian until they put copy/paste in iOS 3.

I found a few symbian binaries on an old hdd and wanted to, I don't know, "offer" it to a collection that already archives this kind of things but I can't found a collection like that. I doubt there are no such collection. The search just found a lot of unrelated stuff.

built on the TI OMAP chips IIRC, same as their Symbian phones.

I never really got a chance to, by the time I was getting back into Linux the N900 with Maemo was the current hotness, and all still out of my budget (and wrong cell network) for the time 😅

So cool my 4 year old phone is getting an upgrade to Android 15. Hope they'll keep doing this as long as with the previous models. @fairphone.com it only my 2nd Android phone (third smartphone if you count symbian) hope to keep this one a long time.

Idk my Nokia Symbian phones had spell check. And T9 predictive text was arguably better than today's predictive.

It was obscure in the US. If you had a Symbian S60 phone it worked very well. Jaiku was Finnish, with ties to Nokia. The US geekosphere never covered Jaiku.
