Já jsem koukal na ty malý Xiaomi teploměry, že už v nich zase ty baterky došly. Ale víc než tohle se mi pro ně líbila varianta supercap + solární panýlek, co dělal myslím Pes v klobouku na Živě.

A supercap is a special type of capacitor which has extremely high capacitance due to its internal construction. They are more expensive but have way more power density than regular capacitors. For a price you can get kilowatts of peak power for seconds at a time.

Eg with 2-3 of these boards I can safely switch power from a solar source to both a battery and a supercap bank with proper charge handling and overload protection for both, feeding power back to the main rails for motor driving. Literally the farm robot uses motor controllers as battery chargers.

pandemic horde. they've lost nearly 20,000 from their alliance in the last week. currently they're going to crash on the initiative's couch in cloud ring, and pretty much the entirety of their supercap fleet is trapped in asset safety

if it’s a wired detector it would make sense to have a supercap or something as backup for exactly this scenario (newly unplugged, no battery), to protect people whose battery died in the event an electrical fire kills the power.

The supercap won’t keep the energy, effectively. The supercap is a buffer.

Every time I think about that I'm like "So why not just ... have the supercap?" If you can put 1 kWh into the supercap to charge 1 kWh of an 80 kWh battery, why not charge the supercap and leave the energy there?

I tested a supercap-battery system a couple years back; the goal was to charge the cap, and have the cap trickle current at a lower rate into the battery. The controlling electronics didn’t quite work, but it’s an idea.

Yeah I was actually surprised the supercap hasn't spilled its guts all over. Only one cap had a slight bulge to it, but am going to recap it anyways.
The big question is do I do the HDMI mod for 120$ or not. I may not since the 20$ AV->HDMI cords are actually really decent.
