German here. I think Loriot may qualify as screwball-esque. I haven’t seen any of his movies but he was really influential on German Comedy. My family quotes his jokes almost daily. You can find subtitled version for his sketches on YouTube!

I adore the is movie. I saw it on an awards subtitled bootleg years and years ago, and was so glad to see it (alongside Szulkin’s other apocalypse movies) get a proper US release. So glad to see it still making the rounds!

Apple+ has the hard-to-find, unavailable in a US DVD movie The Tango Lesson for rental. A third of the dialogue is in French, a third Spanish, and a third English.
The ONLY subtitle option is to have the English dialogue subtitled, which is frustrating even if you needed it for English.

most of them seem to be white and kscoff at the tv and movies i watch that are only subtitled and are east asian and included chinese japanese korean vietnamese indian esp...
but like they tend to overrate esp the most boring crap ever and discredit many nerdy/poc origin things

It's not just English. Watched the Spanish dubbed version of Thunderbolts with Spanish subtitles on and the Russian scenes didn't get subtitled until we turned the Spanish ones off.
