Medication. I have Crohn's disease caused by my service in Afghanistan. Health insurance often denies the required meds for my disease because they are expensive. VA doesn't require StepTherapy or difficult authorizations. If my doctor thinks its the best med for me, I get it.

In 2021, we published an article in Health Affairs looking at #steptherapy restrictions as it relates to clinical guidelines.

We found that only about 30% of the time, step therapies followed clinical guidelines.
